HGV Carbon Goals are Far Too Ambitious- Says ACEA

Those who work in driver recruitment or even in a driving agency will understand more than anyone how important it is to try and keep carbon emissions down. This is especially the case when you look at larger vehicles. There has however been some outrage from manufacturers throughout the EU because they are trying to claim that they are criticising the recommendations. They are also going against the advancements that have been made as well. The EU has demanded that the emissions need to be reduced by one third. A vote was held and the Environmental Committee needs to make mandatory cuts that are around 15%. This was done in 2025 and a voluntary reduction is going to be made by 2030 as well. This has been increased and a lot of people are outraged by this decision. They have also requested that 20% of all trucks need to have low emissions in an effort to try and cut down on emissions even more. ACEA have called the cuts stringent to say the least. They have also said that the proposed cut of 30% is challenging as it is, and now it has been increased even more, this is going to cause real problems.

The IAA show has been remembered for all of their advancements and this is especially the case when you look at the prototypes for a huge range of electric vehicles. When you look at the advancements that have been made, you will also see that there are going to be two more generations of HGVS with fuel engines and that these are going to be developed and even released onto the EU market in a very short space of time. Only time will tell whether the goals above are achieved.
