This idea is certainly being discussed between various transportation organisations. Highway management and even the Welsh government have all been working to try and make this happen. The RHA have welcomed the idea with very open arms and they have also stated that it could even be an investment program. This is especially the case for lorry drivers. Sustrans are very concerned about the safety implications of this and bus lanes are very essential for both cyclists and even buses as well. This will lower the amount of times they are exposed to the other traffic on the road. In order to improve traffic flow, cities will need to try and reduce the amount of flow that is on the road and everything needs to be done to avoid discouraging cyclists as well.

A spokesman has said that they want to make better use of the road space and they also want to ease congestion as well. It’s Time to Scrap a Driver’s CPC

This is huge news if you work in HGV jobs or if you work in driving jobs. According to UKIP, Brexit is giving the haulage industry a great opportunity to do away with any controversial CPC. Jill Seymour has spoken out and she has stated that the CPC has brought a lot of hardship to drivers and it has also brought a lot of misery as well. This has been the case for countless drivers up and down the UK and she has always campaigned against it. The driver CPC is very damaging and now the European Commission has stated that they are not going to recognise British driving certificates after Brexit, there is no saying what will happen next.

Some people have stated that this is a great chance for the government to do something right by the people who work in this industry, and that is to do away with the CPC forever. This would be great news for those who do have problems with it and it is known for being very expensive as well. A lot of people believe that this is a very complicated system and it can even force people to take an early retirement and it can also cause them to lose their jobs as well. The result is a shortage of drivers who work in the industry and things are already struggling when compared to other industries. Some people believe that the system is proven and that it has served us well. Not many people believe this and it is more seen as being controversial.

So that raises the question, if you were to scrap the CPC, would more drivers come to the industry? Would it make it easier for people to keep their jobs? Would it actually make a difference to how happy drivers are?

Today's adoption of the Brexit period is certainly going to cause problems. People are very cautiously optimistic about this and they are also concerned about businessmen and politicians as well. The leading association is going to represent the logistics behind all of this and even they have expressed concerns over the lack of certainty with Irish borders in specific. They believe that this is going to risk the country's trading both in the area and with the UK. It has also been said that the EU is going to offer compromised trading as a result.

This will even affect you if you work in HGV jobs or driving jobs. With the adoption of Brexit and the transitional period, there is no saying whether or not things are going to move forward well. The government have stated that their focus is on Euro V lorries and they also want to make sure that they are retired early as well. Apparently this is misguided, and this is according to the Road Haulage Association. The problem is that the retrofit is not available until at least 2019. Even then it is not confirmed that this will be the release date. The government have also stated that they have been unable to take into account the fact that if they don't have a scrappage, the air quality can't be improved at all.

The RHA have stated that this would cost around £2.25bn and the retrofit for the UK would be by the end of 2020. There has been a phased approach called and this is going to try and ease the clean air zones for lorries. This will ultimately free up more resources and this will shift the focus from the pre-Euro 5 vehicles. If you work in driving jobs or if you work in HGV jobs then you will need to keep up with this. Richard Burnett has stated by the end of 2020 one quarter of the UK's lorry fleet will be the Euro V. That is around 126 HGVs. Of course, only 50% of the fleet will be Euro 6 by the end of 2020 and the use of Euro V and even earlier vehicles will be completely avoidable. This is an incentive to try and help those who operate HGVs to get the support that they need and it is also designed to reward people who choose to move with the times.
