There’s Now an Even Bigger amount of Storage at the Dover Truck Park
The Dover Truck Park has expanded and now there's room for a total of 150 trucks. Those who work in driver recruitment Ireland will know how important it is to keep on meeting the current need for drivers and this is exactly what Dover Truck Park are trying to do. The secure parking facility can be found close to the Dover Port. They have announced that they are going to be expanding and that they are going to be boosting their numbers by over 50%. The capacity of the park is for those who use the port of Dover.
If you are searching for driving jobs Ireland or if you operate as part of a driving agency Ireland, then you will know how important it is to keep various areas developing. The area is operated by Priority Freight LTD and they are specialists in the field when it comes to helping clients meet the various challenges that they face. The truck park is also Dover's only secure park around and it has been accredited by LABEL too. The extra parking is a very much welcome addition and it looks like even more drivers are going to have access to their home comforts. This includes the truck park café and even laundry appliances too. The truck park is normally in very high demand but with these new changes, it looks like there is going to be even more of a chance for people to operate during peak times.
Of course, only time will tell if the truck park is going to expand yet again but right now, the changes are more than welcome and it just goes to show that the truck industry is thriving overall, which is bolstering the storage industry.
Amazon Have Cut Off FedEx Ground for Any Prime Shipments
Amazon.com have released a statement saying that FedEx's delivery service is going downhill and that they will no longer be using the ground delivery network for all of their Prime shipments. Amazon have sent a message to everyone who sells through the site on December 15th and they have instructed them about the change. Amazon have also sent notifications through any merchants who were reviewed by Bloomberg.
Of course, it's important to understand that more than half of the products that are sold through Amazon actually come from third-party members. They then pay Amazon commission for every single sale. A lot of the merchants who also pay Amazon logistical services as well and this is putting the very company in competition with others such as FedEx. Sellers can easily oversee any deliveries on their own and a lot of them use the FedEx ground service which means that they are able to meet the two-day service that is promised by Amazon. Sellers can still use FedEx's express services if they want any ground deliveries, but this is a very costly option.
Amazon evaluate any delivery services every year to see how well they are doing and if you work in the industry of driver recruitment Ireland or as part of a major driving agency Ireland then you will know how important it is to keep drivers on track. Amazon have already created tons of driving jobs Ireland as well and this is just a testament to how well they are doing and how far they have come over the recent years.
There really are so many services out there that can offer deliveries but FedEx really are not living up to expectations and it looks like more needs to be done to try and develop their own delivery network.
Germany Are Set to Agree to Much Higher CO2 Prices for Heating and Transport
Germany are set to agree to much higher CO2 prices in terms of transport and heating. Germany's parliament are now going to doublet the starting price for carbon dioxide emissions for the heating and transport industry. The charge is going to be introduced in 2021. The DPA have reported that they are going to reach a deal and that they are also going to try and get a package of measures in place so that they can try and tackle everything to do with climate change.
Germany are part of an EU-wide carbon emissions market but when you look at the way things are right now, you will soon see that the transport and even the heating industry are exempt from the entire trading system. Angela Merkel's government originally set the price for the emissions that come from transport and even heating but right now, the Green party, who hold a key number of votes, have demanded that the current number be higher.
DPA reported that the charge is going to start at 25 euros and that the economists have stated that they are going to be much more effective in getting people to shift from what is known as being fossil fuels to a much more renewable energy source.
The revenue that is generated from this will then be used to try and lower energy prices. These are very high in Germany, and this is especially the case when you look at the rest of Europe. This is going to affect those who work as part of a driving agency Ireland, or even those who are looking for driving jobs Ireland as well. Of course, if you work in driver recruitment Ireland then this should also be monitored.
Idaho Roads may Resemble an Obstacle Course for Those Who Wish to Transport Hemp
Brad Little, who is a Republican governor from Idaho has issued an order that is going to stop motor carriers from transporting any kind of hemp through the state. This has been a very risky proposition for those who work in the field of driver recruitment Ireland. If you are seeking driving jobs Ireland then you will understand that this going to have a major impact on a driver's ability to complete certain routes. The same applies to those who work in a driving agency Ireland.
Hauling hemp through the state nearly a year after it actually became illegal is no longer going to be a walk in the park.
Little issued the order on November 19th and this comes around one month after the US Department of Agriculture handed down their own regulations. They made it very clear that transporting hemp is as legal as transporting the potatoes that made the area of Idaho famous.
The stopgap comes after Idaho police happened to arrest three drivers on felony charges for trafficking marijuana. Prosecutors allowed them to plead guilty for a misdemeanour so that they could then take a fine and a suspended jail sentence. The arrest that has been made more recently came around a month after Donald Trump signed a bill that would make hemp legal. It also stops states from interfering with any kind of interstate transport too. This means that Idaho need to take a good long look at their laws and policies.
The main issue here is that hemp and even marijuana are actually illegal in Idaho so it's super important that people understand this and that they also take the right steps in protecting themselves against doing any kind of criminal activity without being aware of the laws or rules in the state.
Chippers and Carriers need to Shift into High Gear for Cyber Monday
The holiday season is finally here and the big day of e-commerce is upon us. Shoppers are going to be busier than ever before and FedEx have stated that they are going to be shipping a record-amount of packages. They are moving 33 million packages through their major global network. This is all going to be done in a single day. If you work in driver recruitment Ireland then it's safe to say that you'll know what a feat this is. If you do work as part of a driving agency Ireland, then you'll also know how much stress drivers are put under so that they can deliver all of their packages on time.
Cyber Monday is always the first Monday that comes after Thanksgiving. If you work in the driving jobs Ireland sector then you'll know that even though Thanksgiving isn't celebrated in the UK, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are still very much present. When Black Friday came about, shoppers would run to the nearest mall in an attempt to get the best deals. Cyber Monday grew as a result of this and it's certainly something that marketers are going to try and capitalise on.
Around 68.7 million customers are going to be doing everything they can to try and shop online when they can as the deals are being put up all the time. A lot of customers will even find great online deals all weekend long too. Deals are hitting email boxes far earlier than normal and this is bringing about a very tense sense of competition. With all of this going on, couriers need to make sure that they stay on the ball because if they don't then many people will be disappointed when they don't receive their packages.
Let’s Look at Stena Line’s New Ferries for the Belfast-Liverpool and Holyhead-Dublin Routes
If you work in driver recruitment Ireland or if you are actively part of a driving agency Ireland then you will know how exciting ferry developments can be. Driving jobs Ireland have really opened up so many opportunities over the years and this is all because the world of travel has expanded so rapidly. Part of this comes down to companies such as Stena Line.
Stena Line are a leading ferry company. They have come forward to announce that Stena Estrid is going to be the first of 3 new ferries. They are destined for the Irish sea and they have also completed their trials in the China sea. The extensive testing took place over 3 days and by the looks of things, the vessel performed exactly as promised. Stena Estrid is actually the first of what's going to be five new RoPax vessels. They are going to be constructed at the China shipyard and three of them are going to be hitting the Irish seas very soon.
The sister ship Stena Edda is going to commence operations from Belfast and then to Liverpool in the year 2020. This is going to be part of a multi-million-pound investment and the new ships are certainly going to be amongst some of the most advanced vessels on the market. The sea trials essentially make sure that the systems are entirely operational and that they also meet the required specifications too. They need to be good at engine performance and fuel consumption is very strict as well. Luckily, everything looks to be up to scratch and if more work is done to ensure that they keep on pushing forward then there is absolutely no reason why we won't see even more advancements over the next few years.
More Capacity for the Dover Truck Park
It's always exciting to hear about safe spaces that will help trucks to park up. That's why Dover Truck Park have expanded their site, and this ultimately means that they are going to be able to hold around 50 extra trucks. If you know anything about driver recruitment Ireland or if you are trying to research driving jobs Ireland then you will know what a fantastic decision this is. Of course, if you work in a driving agency Ireland then you should also take note that decisions like this often lead to other industry leaders following the same path.
Dover Truck park is a secure parking facility that is very close to the Port of Dover. They have announced that they are going to be expanding and this all happened on the 31st of October. The total capacity of the park is going to increase by around 50% and it's going to be used by transporters and even drivers who use the Port of Dover.
It's owned by Priority Freight LTD and they are a time-critical specialist when it comes to logistics. It's their job to try and make sure that time-critical logistics are met and that clients are able to secure urgent international transport challenges wherever possible. They have been accredited by LABEL and PACT too. They are also known for being accredited by ESPORG too. Nick Hammond is the truck manager and he has commented saying that they are super excited to be able to reveal their expansion and they are doing everything they can to cater to the needs of more and more transporters. They are also trying to be more present and they also want to meet the needs of their international customers too which is interesting to say the least.
The GM Strike Might have Cost over $1 Billion so Far
The workers who are on strike at General Motors Co are in their third week. It's been reported that this has already cost the carmaker $1 billion. Brinkman has stated that the GM might be able to recover a lot of the profits that have been lost by shifting the production from the third quarter to the fourth. The GM is estimated to be losing $82 million in potential profit, every single day that the strikes are happening.
In the second week, a lot of the GM's North American team were offline and the strike ultimately meant that the carmaker lost out on $575 million. Brinkman has also stated that the profit losses were less in the first week as they only had to shut down the Canadian and Mexican lines. Brinkman has stated that the Axle Manufacturing and Holdings Company have been hit the hardest. Cash impact is going to bite away at the GM but this is probably not going to be until the fourth quarter. The analyst wrote that the suppliers are paid by the automakers after 60 days so there is a chance that they won't feel the impact of the strike until the fourth quarter. Of course, those who work in driver recruitment Ireland or even in a driving agency Ireland will probably understand what a dire situation this could be, but so far things look to be under control.
Driving jobs Ireland could be impacted to some extent but the extent of this probably won't go on to affect the industry as a whole. It will be localised to the carmaker and the companies that are in connection with them. Only time will tell if the required changes are going to be made, but right now, things aren't looking to be going anywhere.
UPS Drones have Won an FAA Milestone
The Federal Aviation Administration have given couriers permission to use as many delivery drones as they need at hospital, corporate or university campuses. They will however have to meet a few restrictions because drones are prohibited from flying at night and they are also not allowed to fly beyond the remote pilot's line of sight. On top of this, they are not allowed to carry any kind of weight that is above 55 pounds.
The FAA's decision was announced on Thursday and this appears to be a big step forward towards drone shipments. The devices have promised to try and reduce courier costs and they are also going to play a huge role in the surge of e-commerce too. Those who work in driver recruitment Ireland or even those who are trying to seek driving jobs Ireland will know more than anyone how beneficial this can be to the industry.
If you do work as part of a driving agency Ireland you will also know that this could mean a lot of industry changes. This change is so significant that the FAA are going to plan to mark the occasion by ringing a bell at the company HQ. This bell is only reserved for any corporate milestones, including mergers or anything else of the sort.
Of course, the company, who are based in Atlanta have stated that they have already made more than 1,000 flights to the WakeMed hospital in Raleigh. UPS are going to do everything they can to roll out even more drone deliveries and they are also going to try and expand their services even more as well.
When things are in full-swing. UPS hope to make residential deliveries with the drones. This is most likely going to be in rural or suburban areas. They are excited about where they are right now and they also expect even bigger changes to come.
HGV Drivers Need to Protect the Newbridge Thames Crossing
The Oxfordshire County Council are involved with an ongoing battle. They are trying to do everything they can to save the Thames Bridge because it would appear that there are some HGV drivers who are taking their vehicles across it, even though they are above the weight restriction. Over 1,300 HGVs have ignored the weight restriction and some of them cross over it multiple times on the same day. If you work in driver recruitment Ireland or even if you are searching for driving jobs Ireland, then you will know how important it is to follow regulations.
Those who are part of a driving agency Ireland will also know that new rules are always being implemented, such as the ANPR camera at Newbridge. This is designed to catch those who choose to pass the bridge even though they are over the weight limit. So far, drivers have had to pay £30,000 in fines ever since the camera was introduced. There have also been over 88 prosecutions through the courts and 847 warning letters have been sent out too. Hundreds of breaches have happened since the weight restriction letters were sent out and there has also been an ongoing investigation too. Vehicles that are over 18 tonnes are not allowed to cross the bridge and although there were road signs put up, it looks like drivers were choosing to ignore them. That is one of the many reasons why the camera system was installed but is it really helping?
Sure, drivers are now being caught out and they are also being made to pay fines, but either way, there are still vehicles that choose to pass over the bridge and all of this activity is damaging the historic landmark that the council are trying so hard to protect.
