The FTA Have Launched a Logistics Emission Reduction Scheme
Some of the world's biggest and most innovative operators are all being invited to try and compete for the biggest LERS Award in the year 2019. The presentation will take place at the FTA Awards ceremony on the 18th of June this year and there are plenty of categories too. The LERS Awards are working hard to try and celebrate the efforts that other members are putting into the scheme and they are also trying to show that fuel emissions are being actively reduced. By working to try and improve fuel efficiency, they are also trying to make sure that they use more green fuels too. Logistic companies are working hard to show that they can easily play their part when it comes to climate change and that they are also able to accept the challenge.
Rebecca Kite is the policy manager over at FTA and she has said that these awards are going to celebrate the very best of the best. The companies are also working hard to try and set a positive example and they are also trying to pave the way to try and get a much brighter and greener future. LERS members are never going to fail to impress and this is especially the case if you look at their commitment to the environment. If you want to know more about this then you should look into driver recruitment Ireland to see if the positions, there are being affected. Driving jobs Ireland may also come under fire.
Of course, if you do work in a driving agency Ireland then it is important to know that the most significant partner comes from emissions in the logistics sector. That being said, more and more is being done to try and give people the support that they need.
Volvo Trucks have Launched a Brand-New Feature
Volvo Trucks have added a brand new I-Save option. This can be fitted onto the FH Tractor unit and they are not able to take advantage of a huge range of fuel savings. This can go up to 7% for those who are long-haul operators. The wave-shaped piston crowns are also said to improve combustion and they are also going to help to improve heating and efficiency. This is fantastic news to say the least and it just goes to show how far everything has come so far. Volvo Trucks have been created for years without any kind of feature that can compare to this, and it is more than possible for this to change the entire industry for the better.
Excess energy that is in the gases from the exhaust is recovered rather than being released into the environment., This is then used to power the flywheel and this is also able to add an extra turbine as well. This is known as the turbo-compound unit. The D13TC engine is able to produce torque of up to 300Nm. This means way less acceleration and it also means that fuel can be used to maintain a steady speed. This is especially the case when you look at motorway traffic. Volvo have also released a statement, saying that this is going to be good for those who work in driving jobs Ireland. Of course, if you do work as part of a driving agency Ireland then you will know how long-anticipated this feature is. Driving recruitment Ireland is going to be affected as well, which could mean huge changes for the industry.
Only time will tell if any more changes are going to come into effect, but it's certainly going to be an exciting year.
Paperwork for UK Haulers driving in Europe
UK commercial drivers who are going to be driving and operating in the EU will need some additional paperwork if they want to be able to leave without restriction. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency has confirmed this, and they have also stated that the driver documents you need will include the international driving permit and a passport that has around 6 months left on it. UK commercial drivers who operate in the UK will need some additional paperwork if the UK happens to leave the EU without a deal and this has been confirmed as well.
If you want to make the most out of this then you need to act now. You need to look up the EU exit haulier guidance and you also need to get a list of the most up to date documents too. You may need to look into trailer registration if you work in a driving agency Ireland or even if you are looking for driving jobs Ireland. That begin said, driving recruitment Ireland may also be affected as a result. This is going to come into place on the 28th of March and this is the case whether the UK leaves the EU without a deal. You need to get your trailer registered and you also need to get the documents from a shipping provider as well. In addition to this, you may also need to ask for separate cargo and even customs documents. This can be obtained by going through your shipping agent. You will need to have more documents if you are transporting risky goods or anything to do with plants or animals. Controlled products will be under this as well, so do keep that in mind if you are driving to Ireland.
The EU has Backed Vision for Buses and Trucks
The European Parliament has backed an option to try and give people a much safer driving journey. They are working hard to try and introduce brand new limitations that will stop people from driving trucks that are not safe. Those who work in driver recruitment Ireland, or even those who are looking for driving jobs Ireland will know how much of an impact this is going to have on the industry. Of course, if you work in a driving agency Ireland then this is also another huge consideration.
The new direct vision standard will help to reduce the amount of blind spots there are and it will also help both bus and truck drivers to be more safe on the road. Some people even hope that it will help them to become more aware of their vehicle and this could also stop accidents for cyclists as well. There are no rules in place at the moment for the amount of trucks that are on the road, let alone for the amount that are actually safe to drive. This new regulation is hoping to change that by making sure that every truck is safe. Research has shown time and time again that trucks that have low-entry cabs have brilliant driving vision and that they are also able to prevent a ton of road fatalities as well. One thousand cyclists die every single year in collisions and this is not good at all. More needs to be done about this, and if these changes are not put into place soon then there could be even more deaths. That being said, people are most certainly working hard to try and stop things like this from happening, there's just no way of telling how long it is going to be before an improvement is actually made.
The New Stena Line Ferry is Going to Operate in Dublin, Ireland
Stena Line have confirmed that the new Ropax ferries are under construction in China. They are also going to enter the service route in Dublin. This is going to happen in the year 2020. This last year, Stena Line's parent company decided to announce a brand new contract for the new generation of vessels.
Stena Line have in fact confirmed that the new ferries are under construction in China and that they have planned to enter the service in the area. They have also tried to build a contract that will help the new vessels to launch properly.
Stena Line's CEO NicLas Matrensson has worked strategically to try and make sure that the freight market for England and Ireland continues to experience significant growth. He is also trying to make sure that enough money is invested to try and continue this growth. The deployment of the three vessels will really be seen as a tangible example of things to come. Those who work in driver recruitment Ireland, or even those who are looking at driving jobs Ireland will find this especially interesting.
If you go through a driving agency Ireland to try and find a position that is suitable for you then this could open up a ton of new jobs. Studies have shown that volumes have surpassed the past recorded peaks. 2017 really was a great year for the company and they have worked hard to try and welcome the addition of the new generation. It will significantly increase the freight capacity of the service for travel and even for freight customers. If you want to find out more about this then watch this page, where new updates will be posted as soon as they become apparent.
The EU Commissioner has Told Ireland to Prepare for a Hard Brexit
Phil Hogan has stated that Ireland need to prepare for a scenario in which the UK leaves the European Union without an agreement next March. This would ultimately mean a hard Brexit. Phil Hogan has spoken out at a special conference done by the Brexit organisation. They want to try and keep the trade flowing and they also want to put the work in to try and make sure that trade doesn't stop either.
He has stated that Ireland should not, and cannot worry about what preparations are in place for the UK ports right now. Verona Murphy has stated that Brexit is being talked about quite a lot but not much is being done. Progress doesn't look to being made right now and this could have a devastating impact on the UK. A lot of people have stated that more needs to be done but if progress is not made at all then those who work in driver recruitment Ireland are going to suffer the most.
If you do work as a driving agency Ireland or even in driving jobs Ireland then this could have a devastating impact as well. Of course, if progress is made regarding the idea of Brexit and if a deal is put into place then this would soothe a lot of people's anxieties and it would also help them to come to terms with the deal.
A no deal on the other hand comes with a lot of uncertainty and this could mean really bad things for the future. Sure, the UK would recover and so would Ireland, but to what end? There is no telling what is going to happen right now but with the possibility of a no-deal being on the table, things are not looking good.
Stena Line have Introduced the Stena Forecaster to Belfast
The Stena Line's Irish route network has been transformed from the Stena RoRo to the Stena Line and this means that it will enter the service on the Belfast and Liverpool route. This is part of an on-going development for the Stena Line's Irish sea network and it will also transfer back to the North Sea operation. This is going to be done on the Rotterdam-Killingholm route as well. Of course, it is important to know that this is a very important step in the expansion programme and that this is really an advancement for the diagonal corridor service. Those who work in driver recruitment Ireland or even as part of a driving agency Ireland will know this more than anyone.
This could even lead to an increase in driving jobs Ireland as well, so this is an important thing that you need to keep in consideration. The 3,000 lane ship will really help production and they are also going to introduce some new Flexer ships too. These are under construction right now and that they will be the first to be released. It is said that these new ships will significantly raise the freight and even the travel capacity. It will also increase the service levels as well, so this is another point that needs to be taken into consideration.
Stena Forecaster will be making two large departures. This will be during the day, between Monday and Friday. They will also partner the two RoPax vessels, and that Stena Mersey will be on the Belfast and Liverpool route as well.
Only time will tell if this is the case or not, but it is safe to say that more needs to be done to make movements like this happen more often so that the efficiency can continue to increase.
Commercial HGV Snow Socks have been Released for Trucks and Buses
The Parma Group is currently working hard to try and release some commercially graded snow socks for HGV vehicle goods. The snow socks are more than designed to be installed to drive wheels and they cover the tyres in the event of traction loss. This is especially the case if you are going to be driving in snowy or even icy weather. The elasticated cover is designed to be stretched over the tyre cover and this could prove to be revolutionary to those who work in driver recruitment, or even if you choose to go through a driving agency Ireland.
The Parma Group are offering a pair of snow socks for HGV vehicles and they are also specialists in the field when it comes to truck and even bus applications too. The snow socks are actually provided in vinyl carrier bags and this is ideal if you are looking for driving jobs Ireland but are concerned about driving in harsh weather. The tyre covers give you a maximum driving speed of 40km/h and they should only be used in the event of snow and ice and they are no where near suitable for regular weather. They are also recommended for driving short distances as well, so it is important that you keep this in mind.
It is also important to know that they are only designed for certain vehicle sizes and they only fit certain types of tyres as well. When you have this information, you can then begin to find out if there is anything that you can do to try and fit them on your own. If you need some help, then the Parma Group would be more than happy to help you with anything you need.
Haulers Need to Advance their Brexit Preparations
There are only a couple of months to go now until Brexit. Hauliers now need to try and take immediate action if they ever want to advance their preparations or they risk increasing a number of delays. The red tape and even the cost of doing future business will also increase as well. This is according to the FTA Ireland. They are the leading organisation when it comes to representing the overall logistics of the industry.
The advice has come as the FTAI launches their own guide. Brexit preparedness is at an all-time low and the guide comes with various steps that hauliers can take in order to try and mitigate any risks that may be present for their business. Aidan Flynn, who is actually the general manager of FTAI has commented saying that no matter what the outcome of Brexit, it will have a huge impact on the UK's ability to trade. 2019 is also going to bring a huge amount of uncertainty. There are however steps that most hauliers can take to try and mitigate this risk. There are only 100 days to go now, and not many hauliers are prepared. This is why the FTAI have launched their very own comprehensive guide. They are going to recommend and even aid preparedness and they are also going to try and cover key routes to market. This is to try and help those who need it the most while also making sure that they have a plan in place in case a no-deal Brexit is achieved. This is going to affect you if you work in driver recruitment or even as part of a driving agency. Of course, with that being said, there are a few things that you can do to try and help yourself.
Manston Truck Trials Have to Be Repeated
The RHA have stated that the Manston truck trials are going to have to be repeated. The Kent truck trial at the Manston airport is part of the contingency plan. This has been a huge success for over 89 HGVS. The RHA chief executive who is known as Richard Burnett has stated that they want to have a plan, and that it is good for them. They do however believe that the limited scope trial will need to be repeated numerous times so that they can do a stress-test on it. This is to make sure that it can keep up with the demands of the community and so that they can do any tweaks as well. They have also stated that they are going to have to learn how to manage thousands of lorries properly as well. The trial cannot possibly indicate any result for the 4,000 trucks that are being held at the Manston airport and this is especially the case when you look at the possibility of a no-deal Brexit. They have also stated that the whole is happening a little bit late.
The process should have really started well over 9 months ago. At this stage it looks like there is a window dressing, but there are hopes that the whole thing is going to come together soon. Of course, only time will tell if this is the case but a lot of people who work in driver recruitment or even in a driving agency are certainly going to be affected by this. Of course, it is important to know that there are high hopes for everything to go through properly. If you need some support, then keep on checking back to see if any movements have been made.
